Abstract

Teaching and learning do not take place in a vacuum; classrooms are built in an environment and these environmental factors play negative role in the process of teaching and learning. This paper therefore examines the relationship between the environment and the teaching and learning of business education in the public tertiary institutions in Nigeria. Many environmental factors are said to be responsible for the non- achievement of the goals of teaching business education courses which among others includes quality of teachers, experience and competence, schools' location, equipment and facilities. The paper recommends among others that, the site of the school should be far from industrial areas to avoid noise pollution and disturbances, physical facilities such as classrooms and laboratories should be provided. The paper concludes that tertiary institutions should be well funded for sustainable national development.
